I would like to take a moment and state my opinion on this ridiculous aerial wolf control program from Alaska's governor and Department of Fish and Game.

I'm sickened at their constant brushing off of the majority of the public's views on this subject. More than two-thirds of the general public wants these activities stopped. No one but the hunters and the government seem to want these controls to continue, and how do they do it? By giving blown-up numbers where moose and wolves are concerned.

If there is doubt, look at the numbers. In a count conducted along the Holitna and Hoholitna rivers, there was only a bull/cow ratio of 6/100. At the Nowitna River mouth, bull/cow ratios are only 12/100, with two-thirds of these bulls being yearlings. It's a great example of what happens when hunters get their way and wolves and other predators are controlled.

In Unit 20A, with predators gone, the moose population now exceeds the carrying capacity of the habitat. It would appear to me that the ones needing to be controlled are the hunters, not the predators.

Make no mistake about it, until these ridiculous and needless controls are stopped completely, I will not visit Alaska or purchase any products that come out of the State of Alaska.
