Help the McNeil Bear Sanctuary off linmits to hunting

Board of Game Should Take e-Mail

Letters / Anchorage Daily News / February 17, 2007

The fact that public comments to the Board of Game regarding hunting regulations have to be mailed or faxed and e-mail comments are not accepted is ridiculous. I can only surmise that it's a tactic on its part (and the governors who appointed them) to limit access and input on policies the public doesn't agree with. I've heard Gov. Sarah Palin say that as governor she aspires to a transparent administration. One step in doing that is facilitating communication between policymakers and those people their decisions affect. So while the Board of Game, as well as Gov. Palin's administration, may or may not take to heart public comments, e-mail access to the Board of Game would at least, for appearances sake, give the impression that they did.
