Help the McNeil Bear Sanctuary off linmits to hunting

Saving Polar Bears and Walrus Pups

Letters / Juneau Empire / April 24, 2007

My suggestion for the Friends of Animals, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and other animal groups is to stop suing Alaska over wolf hunts, bear hunts and just hunts period.

They should spend their millions on a giant ice-making machine based out of Nome for battling the effects of global warming.

Just think of what heroes they would be to the polar bears, walrus pups and the Alaska Natives in the area. Maybe there could be a feeding station for the animals on the ice, supplied by hundreds of road-killed Connecticut deer. After all, you can't hunt deer in Connecticut with a gun. The state banned that many years ago, so Connecticut is totally overrun by skinny road-running deer.

Is this a joke? Well, maybe.
