To the editor:
It doesn't take an expert to understand that an elephant is out of place here in Alaska. Since commercial considerations prevent the Anchorage Alaska Zoo from releasing Maggie into a better suited habitat, I propose to appeal to greed and give the Alaska Zoo what its management wants so badly.
How much money is Maggie projected to generate for the Anchorage Zoo (let's assume she would actually live long enough to satisfy the zoo management's projections)? If we would have one overpriced latte less this year, surely we could simply buy Maggie and send her off to live with her kind in a place that is much more suited to elephants than the patch of dirt, or the concrete floor, at the Alaska Zoo. Everyone has a price, let's put a number on Maggie's life and get on with it. Who's with me? info@freemaggie.org
