Letter About Snowmachines' Effects on Moose
Numbers is Laughable

Letters to the Editor / Anchorage Daily News / November 21, 2003

A laughable response to the letter by Tom Klein ("Snowmachines, not wolves, present real problem for Su Valley moose," Nov. 19): In my all my years of riding snowmobiles and flying planes, I have never seen a rider "herding" moose. Nor have I ever seen moose seeking shelter on rocky moraines. However, I have witnessed moose walking on packed snowmobile trails for ease of travel.

If I were an anti-aircraft person, I could talk about being in the almost sterile environment of Denali and complain about the noise of the aircraft, which you are in, witnessing these travesties of snowmobiles.
