Efforts Like State's Wolf-Kill Program
Destroy System of Natural Balance

Letters to the Editor / Anchorage Daily News / December 18, 2003

In 1996 and 2000, Alaska voters banned aircraft-assisted wolf hunting. This month, Gov. Frank Murkowski ignored Alaska voters, so now aerial shooting of wolves is permitted. Why do we bother voting? Why are Alaskans putting up with Murkowski?

Alaska is a beautiful state, and Mother Nature has naturally balanced wildlife here and the rest of the world long before humans arrived. Hundreds of registered and unregistered Alaska and out-of-state hunters go to McGrath to kill moose. Because of humans' greed and laziness in not hunting elsewhere, wolves are sacrificed.

If humans continue to refuse to live in nature as it was designed, giving room for all animals to live natural lives, we will destroy the system that we depend on, or at best turn the world into an unnatural theme park.
