A black wolf watches passing hikers and dogs Tuesday on the shore of Mendenhall Lake. The young wolf has been seen frequently around the lake and the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center for several months, and officials say it is becoming accustomed to humans and dogs. Reports that people and their dogs are playing with the wolf have officials concerned, and they caution people to keep their distance from the wolf because wild animals can be unpredictable.
