Complete, Truthful Information About Predator Control Needed

Letters to the Editor / Anchorage Daily News / April 3, 2004

Only theologians and voodoo biologists should participate in predator control forums sponsored by animal-rights groups. The Defenders of Wildlife and the Alaska Wildlife Alliance are preaching a different ideology regarding wildlife management.

The fact that elected officials and government employees address existing laws and constitutional mandates allowing the implementation of predator control programs is of little interest to them. Animal-rights advocates don't believe it's moral to manage renewable food resources, i.e. wildlife, for humans to eat.

Debates on morality should be among theologians, humanities professors and concerned individuals. Animal-rights advocates believe the morals of today's public condemn the management of wild animals for human use. Board of Game members and Fish and Game employees don't have a say on that issue; they are just following laws passed, based on Alaska's Constitution.
