As Long as Alaska Kills its Wolves, This Tourist's Money Goes Elsewhere

Letters to the Editor /Anchorage Daily News / March 24, 2003

I had planned to spend July in Alaska visiting parks, fishing and traveling the state. However, based on the recent decision by the Alaska Board of Game to begin an aggressive program to kill wolves, I have decided to take my tourism dollars elsewhere.

Alaska is taking a huge step backward by this action. It proves that your government wants the state to be one big game farm and not a wilderness ecosystem where the natural ebb and flow of predator-prey relationships are acknowledged and respected.

In a time when Alaska is trying to lure more tourism to the state, I guess we will just have to try to hit you where it hurts. So I will also be working to encourage friends and other people in the adventure travel community to boycott Alaska as a destination.
