Aerial Wolf Control Program Expands for Winter

Anchorage, Alaska - The state is preparing to expand its controversial Aerial Wolf Control Program this winter. The Department of Fish and Game is expanding the program in areas where officials say there are too few moose.

In addition to the areas focused on last year around McGrath and the Nelchina Basin, the state plans to expand the hunt to areas west of Cook Inlet near Anchorage, and the Kuskokwim River region near Aniak.

The goal of this winters program is to kill 500 wolves in the four areas where the state says moose populations have dwindled because of predators.
